6 Months

If there is no development on a new product in the very near future for HSS. You can expect a head count reduction before December. We all know the company was positioning itself to be sold, but a couple of recent screw ups and it's not as attractive.
The one thing we know is a constant, no one can believe or trust a word that is communicated to the field force. It is unfortunate but poor leadership communication, transparency, and leaked information. Mallinckrodt has built a culture of fear and mistrust.

Feds want Novartis to fork over $3.4B to settle alleged False Claims Act violations

The U.S. Department of Justice wants Novartis (NVS -0.1%) to cough up $3.35B in civil fines and damages as restitution for its alleged misconduct in promoting Myfortic (to prevent organ rejection in kidney transplant recipients) and Exjade (to treat iron overload from blood transfusions) to federal healthcare programs that resulted in substantial over-payments for the meds. Specifically, the feds accuse the company of using various schemes, such as rebates, to boost sales to specialty pharmacies.

The Justice Department seeks $1.52B in damages, triple what Medicare and Medicaid paid for the two drugs as a result of the kickbacks between 2004 and 2013, and up to $1.83B in fines.

The case stems from a whistleblower lawsuit filed in 2011 by a former sales manager.

Another wrinkle in the situation is the impact the company's Corporate Integrity Agreement, signed in 2010, will have. It requires the firm to establish an internal compliance program and report violations, areas that appear to have been unaddressed.

Astute Medical Management-what do they do all day?

Just curious, who is the laziest person within the corporate office? When you call in to the office nobody ever picks up the phone. One would think with the lack of sales everyone would be hopping to answer the phone. Forget about EP or his dumpy assistant...they never are available. I am sure they pull down over six figures and the question is why? What value do they bring to the table? Definitely out to lunch.

LEARN BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

Your time as a pharma rep will leave you woefully unprepared and glaringly exposed

You don't really realize how fake the charade of pharma sales is until you
get into the real world of jobs, and see how your phantom skill set translates
into nothing, aside from working for a caterer or pizza place…

Have your fun working part time and making really good money for as long
as you would like, but be couscous in the back of your mind that one day it
will come to an end, and it won't be pretty.

Those with kids to feed and send to college are even more at risk than singles
that are ready to mingle.

Proceed with caution people..The real world of jobs ain't pretty.

nt-trading acknowledges Straumann patent and removes copied implant components from U

Straumann has prevailed in an important patent dispute against
nt-trading GmbH & Co KG which was filed in Delaware District Court, USA. As a result,
nt-trading has agreed to remove its imitations of Straumann’s implant abutments from the
market in the US.

At the heart of the dispute is a patent that covers Straumann’s innovative CrossFit®
technology, which ensures that connecting abutments fit precisely into Straumann implants
without jamming. The patent effectively protects against copies of Straumann’s original
abutments for its Bone Level implants.

nt-trading GmbH & Co. KG is based in Karlsruhe, Germany, and manufactures components
for use in implant dentistry. In an out-of-court settlement, the company acknowledged that
Straumann’s patent is valid and enforceable. It also agreed to remove its imitation abutments
from the market in the US and to pay for Straumann’s legal costs. nt-trading has also agreed
not to permit any third party to sell, market or import the respective products in the US.

“The CrossFit connection was invented to ensure safe and easy handling, and Straumann
invested considerably in its research, development and clinical testing. We will not allow
other companies to infringe our intellectual property or to mislead dentists and patients that
imitations are the same as Straumann originals”, said Andy Molnar, Executive Vice President
of Straumann North America. “Look-alikes and copycats are not manufactured to our high
quality standards nor have they undergone the extensive clinical testing that Straumann
implants and abutments receive. We are determined to take a strong, justified stand against
rogue imitators, in the interest of patient safety.”

Cafepharma board is an outlet for rejects with no integrity and work ethic, and no job. Most all of you sound as if youre out of work because Depomed gave you the finger. So now you do what you know best: bitch. If you knew your responsibilites better and did your job with integrity, you'd have a job with Depomed and being rewarded for your hard work. Instead youre getting your peckers sucked at times when youre being evaluated for your usefulness as a Depomed pharmaceutical sales representative.

False Positives on STD lab results

My sister recently recieved a positive test result for chlamydia on her 12 week prenatal STD urine screening. Her and her husband both were shocked and, of course, both convinced there was no possible way. When she demanded a cervical swab retest her Dr highly discouraged this, saying false positive are rare and "what difference does it make anyways?" After much debate he agreed to send off her urine again (he refused to do the swab) to Solstas in Greensboro, NC. While we have been googling all over the place about other instances of false positives, we came across a thread here from 2012 that specifically talked about Solsatas in Greensboro having a higher rate of false positives.
We are awaiting her and her husbands test results this week. Although she is suspicious the Dr even sent out the second test. This has been very emotionally taxing and stressful for them, and we are trying to get some answers or further information on similar instances. Has anyone heard of these things happening in the recent past? We know nothing about how these labs operate, so any clarity offered would be great. Thanks for your help.

Wholesale Falsification

Eliquis bonus is paid and you are evaluated on how you rank in the region. Your ranking may not be so accurate however. Particularly if you are honest. It appears that at the direction of the DM, in one district that if you want to manipulate your weekly numbers then just delete the Doctors with low shares. In fact just delete whole practices. Mark them as Dead, moved out of territory or whatever you want. One rep doing this just knocked off an entire Cardiology practice (with a BMS speaker) and shot up 15 points in share overnight. (This is only one example and I know of plenty others.)

Isn't this falsification? Does anyone in Plainsboro care or are they just oblivious?

Changes In The Wind

Question:

(1) Why break Alpha out into a separate team, when Beta and soon Gamma, will call on virtually the same docs as Alpha for Brin & Brex?

(2) Why do all Otsuka reps have Brex and Alpha does not?

This is the first few questions I would like to know the answer to. Also, explain why this is a "good business decision", because it splits the psych force, and you lose a key element of SOV from Alpha? Wouldn't it make more sense to have one united team with everyone behind Brex & Brin, especially since we all CALL ON THE SAME DOCS????????

Can you smell Big Pharma written all over this?

Sales Manager Hours

So I have never been on this site as I am not involved with pharma sales but I have been arguing with a friend of mine and he told me to come here to see what response I get.

The argument is over the hours a pharma sales manager works per week. A guy he works with is a pharma manager in the Northeast and he always tells him he is working constantly; up until all hours of the night and needs to rise early to start again. I'm not discounting the job itself, but from my limited knowledge of the job responsibilities, it seems a stretch to say you need to work 60+ hours a week. Now he did say that the guy is very successful and has won awards before so I am sure that this is a very generalized question but thought I would ask.

Again, I'm not judging or anything like that but from the sound of this guy you would think he is senior vice president of Microsoft.

Just interested since we have been arguing abut this.

The joys of spreading addiction

You can spot 'em everywhere now. At my son's Little League game, a mom's face could barely contain the open sores.

"Emotionally, even with our great rivers and high mountain ridges, the truth is, we really don't want or welcome long-term visitors, because we are concealing something."

For the state of Virginia as a whole, illicit drug use among minors and adults is similar to the national average, according to the federal government. The use of Methadone and Buprenorphine (Suboxone includes Buprenorphine) for substance-abuse treatment in Virginia has significantly risen in the most recent five-year study from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the U.S. government. Mallinckrodt has been developing new versions of addictive opiates to drive business through addicts.

Question please

Hi--will try to be concise-please answer seriously--that is a challenge here, but I am serious and very curious.
Old-timer here--long gone---so old when I started NO signatures for samples and no computers--target list was the Yellow Pages from a phone booth--I promise--old man here

With that- I hear "they started" with detectives, then moved to managers following cars etc. you know what mean---I ADMIT I started working 10 hours a day! I was an idiot back then--young and did not know "the system" got it down and learned to do the day in 3 hours and make the same $ --nuff said--happy to report I worked in pharma (yes GSK was one) and averaged 3 hours a day for 20 yrs and retired. question---------is it true this "babysitting/tracking" had advanced to the point of GPS in phones or computers or both??? Come on --be nice and just tell me--I am old and curious about my former career. if what I hear is true that really means doc parking lots are full of reps on Friday at say 4:30?????? hard to imagine except for me my 1st couple of yrs. I did it. not for long. how could you say "well, I just cant get any docs that need samples on any Friday after 3 pm boss!" heck I am admitting what I did, but I have to know. are you in your car at 8 am every day and not home till after 5???? there weren't enough docs to see way back then and less now! I live in a city with a huge major teaching hospital and they will not only never see reps they take no samples! this is a city of 1.5 million and I bet GSK has 2 reps in the city vs the 10 we had years ago--I am talking 2001.
thanks a bunch. just an old curious guy

What's up with the high turnover?

Seeing lots of postings weekly on new openings. My area alone has dozens. Does not speak highly of a manager with high turnover. What's the deal?

What's up with the high turnover?

It's time for a change

Does anyone not agree that after one year and 8 months it's time for a change. We have had layoffs, mgmt changes (not enough here) territory changes, target doc changes, multiple messages and nothing has really changed.

It's time to let your trusted reps do the work for you (free). Forget the expensive market research...that accomplished nothing. The $90m commercial accomplished nothing. The marketing pieces have been changed so many times, but always say the same thing. Stop spending money to produce them, we all have plenty as no office wants them anymore. The market research to pick docs for the target list doesn't work in the ever changing climate of hospital take overs. Every day offices are closing reps and samples.

I'm not sure what will work at this point, but I do know that more of the same will not make any difference at this point.

Give the reps the ability to call on whatever practice that they feel will make a difference to the bottom line. I know you say that we can do that but it is impossible to do this cold calling as we are too busy "making the metrics" with the dead, dying, retired, no interest offices and those that are closed to us. Give us credit for calling on new offices that have possibilities (INCLUDE them in the Metrics) and see if we can right this sinking ship.

Let us call on as many doctors as we want not be limited to the 125 you choose which have not written Brisdelle to date and never will in the future. We need some new blood in these lists. We don't have to make it fair for everyone with the same number of docs, those who want to work harder and make the sales should be able to do so (and get credit for each call)!!!!!

Noven blames the reps for everything that doesn't work, but we are hopeless to accomplish anything when Our hands are tied and we are dragging around a ball and chain behind us.

It's time for a change

Pfizer Greed

The greed of Pharma companies truly knows no limits. Pfizer has already been making Billions on this product that is now generic and they want to try and protect it from being used for a new indication?

Another great example of this type of greed is Proscar developed by Merck to treat enlarged prostate glands. After it went generic they rebranded it under the name Propecia. The only difference is that Proscar was 5mg and Propecia is 1mg! That’s right folks, you get to pay a branded co-pay for 4mg less of the same medicine already available in generic form. And they wonder why everyone thinks they are crooks.

So, what exactly do your Med Affairs Directors do? Are they actually Doctors or Surgeons, or are they glorified Sales Reps?

What to do with old awards?

Hall of Famer here. Was "rightsized" from Pfizer several years ago.

I have all these plaques and awards that are totally meaningless to me but would rather not
dump them in a landfill.

Has anyone done something productive with them?

I know I'm opening the door for sarcastic comments but would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks

TN manager?? what is going on?

any word on what the situation is with the TN Belsomra district? friend says DM is out, not sure if coming back. Then there is a snake rep doing whatever he can to undermine and take over. Does he have a chance? Word is he is a compliance nightmare.....script fraud, sexual harassment, etc.

Nurse pleads guilty to taking Insys kickbacks as Subsys marketing probe continues

Nurse pleads guilty to taking Insys kickbacks as Subsys marketing probe continues

June 26, 2015 | By Tracy Staton

In an apparent sign that federal prosecutors are zeroing in on the pain-drug maker Insys Therapeutics ($INSY), a Connecticut nurse and top prescriber has pleaded guilty to accepting $83,000 worth of kickbacks from the company.

As The New York Times reports, Insys previously disclosed that the feds are looking into its marketing practices. The company's biggest drug is Subsys, a spray form of the high-powered painkiller fentanyl approved only for use in cancer patients.

The nurse, Heather Alfonso, was one of Insys' paid speakers, and often collected fees for events attended only by an Insys sales rep, or by her own friends and colleagues, the NYT reports. As part of her plea agreement, Alfonso admitted that the speaking fees influenced her prescribing decisions. Prosecutors said that Alfonso prescribed Subsys to many patients who did not have cancer, the drug's only approved indication.

Subsys sales have grown quickly, despite its narrow market. The sublingual spray brought in $219.5 million for 2014, more than double its $95.8 million total the previous year. Fourth-quarter 2014 sales alone amounted to more than $60 million.

Insys sales reps previously told the Times that they were trained to begin talking about cancer pain with doctors and other potential prescribers--like Alfonso--and then move into a more general discussion about pain. Last year, script numbers showed that half of Subsys prescriptions were being written not by oncologists or pain specialists--as the FDA had directed--but by other types of providers, including GPs and dentists.

Now, the prosecutors' move against Alfonso can't be a good sign for the company, one legal expert told the newspaper. "I think it means big trouble for the company," former federal prosecutor Marcella Auerbach told the Times. "I think it takes two to tango to do kickbacks--a giver and a receiver."

There's precedent for that sort of thinking. The long-term care pharmacy provider Omnicare ($OCR) in 2009 settled kickback claims with the Department of Justice, which cited its recommendations in favor of Johnson & Johnson's ($JNJ) antipsychotic drug Risperdal. J&J later found itself fighting DOJ claims that it paid kickbacks to Omnicare, aiming to boost Risperdal scripts.

Allergan CEO: 'The cuts are done' at layoffs-plagued Irvine campus

Allergan CEO: 'The cuts are done' at layoffs-plagued Irvine campus

June 25, 2015 | By Tracy Staton

The good news for Allergan's ($AGN) ex-headquarters in Irvine, CA: CEO Brent Saunders says the operations there are still key to the company. More good news: The layoffs that hit that site are now over and done, he says.

The not so good news, at least for the workers at Allergan's latest takeover target Kythera? Job cuts would be coming to that operation, though Allergan would "keep the vast majority of employees," Saunders told the Los Angeles Times.

Those must be welcome words in Irvine, which has suffered a series of job cuts--not to mention months of uncertainty about its fate. Allergan spent much of last year fighting a long-and-nasty battle against a hostile bid by Valeant Pharmaceuticals ($VRX), and finally inked a merger deal with Actavis to quash that Valeant offer completely. Along the way, Allergan promised 1,500 job cuts to boost margins, and according to state filings, let loose 500 workers in Irvine before Actavis took over earlier this year.

After that, Actavis notified California officials that it planned to lay off another 577 people at the Irvine campus, as it worked to integrate operations; the job cuts were part of a $1.8 billion set cost-squeezing moves Actavis outlined when it agreed to buy Allergan. Earlier this month, Actavis officially adopted the Allergan name as a testament to its ambitions in branded pharmaceuticals.

Now, apparently, those workforce cuts are over, leaving 2,100 workers at the Irvine site, the LA Times says. Before the layoffs began last year, the site hosted more than 3,000 workers. "You are going to see a few thousand employees remain at that space [in Irvine]," Saunders told the newspaper. "The cuts are done. There is no second shoe to drop. The people who are there are there."

Not so much at Kythera, based in nearby Westlake Village. Allergan snapped up the company in a $2.1 billion deal earlier this month, with high hopes for Kythera's double-chin injection Kybella and an in-development hair loss treatment. Allergan figures it can easily fold Kybella into its aesthetics business--which of course is anchored by Botox--and use the double-chin fighter to help it build sales in men.

Allergan will keep the Westlake facility and most--but not all--of the Kythera workforce, Saunders said, adding that his company "[has] the infrastructure in order to invest and launch this product. It would have been much more difficult for Kythera to do on their own."

Greed that has no end!

The greed of these companies truly knows no limits.

'Busy Work' at Sanofi

I just learned we have a one day meeting to learn about the new competencies and a two day meeting to review a new visual aid. Year to date, I have listened to more mind numbing conference calls and attended more redundant meetings than in my previous 10 years combined.
As a field rep, I ask when can I actually do my job and sell something? Do we have too many managers with too much time on their hands? Or is this just some management scheme to drive me out without a severance package?!

Siemens best all around OEM to work for in imaging?

Between seeing the product in the field/hearing from customers and doing research online, it seems Siemens has great products and the company is in a good state.

I seem to hear nothing but bad things about GE (both products and company), people getting fired all the time, etc. Toshiba and phillips don't seem to have as large of a presence.

Sound about right?

Tage Ramakrishna is a liar

Valeant CMO Tage Ramakrishna is a liar. This man claims that he has a double doctorate in medicine - one from Poland and the other from Virginia Medical School. In fact he has never studied and has no degree from Virginia Medical School, he has just done internship for few months, which is not the same as receiving a degree in medicine from there.

Tage and his dear friends Peter Motta and Mohammad Merchant are crooks as well.

Pfizer Not So "Family First"

Spouse of Pfizer rep here. My spouse (Pfizer rep) has been screwing a PA throughout our entire marriage of almost 10 years. In return, this PA has flooded my spouse with scripts throughout said time. Scripts which contributed to the winning of awards, trips and bonuses. In addition, spouse has self managed her clinical depression by stealing clinical samples of Pristiq off the sample shelves in doctors offices (as spouse delivers drug samples), rather than seeing a physician to monitor her disorder and prescribe anti-depressants accordingly. This is all fact as my spouse had been under surveillance for almost 10 years. Spouse is oblivious to the fact that once our divorce is finalized, I will be filing a formal complaint with Pfizer Corporate Compliance as well as the Department of Justice and OIG and provide them all with the evidence supporting her acts of pharmaceutical Fraud.

The saddest part about this is that spouse continually swears that Pfizer is a "family first" company that does not tolerate this type of behavior. I guess we will just wait to see how Pfizer handles the complaint. Will keep you posted...

MSBU - Joe help!!!!

Joe please do something. The U.S. Based MSBU is failing miserably! I know you are busy in Basel and we are probably one of many tiny concerns you have but in the U.S. this is important! Our new leader who replaced Dagmar is absolutely clueless. Our ABLs do not have any MS experience and only know Primary Care tactics which, as you know, does not work in MS!

Our market share is low and once Ocreluzumab launches we will have our market share be cut by half. Please please do a major rehaul of MSBU NOW!

When will the FTC find PME illegal?

Think about it. Why wouldn't every single branded pharmaceutical company be using this tactic to sidestep generic competition? Maybe because they know it is illegal and they would be punished for doing so. Unless this company is just flying under the FTC's radar, there's no reason why they should not have been brought to task for their practices. I'd also like HHS to investigate if any co-pay coupons are making it into the Part D system. When you have a single supplier pharmacy (i.e. PME), there should be extra scrutiny put on that supplier.

When will the FTC find PME illegal?

Moral

Moral is very bad right now. Valeant is chipping away at pay. Some didn't get the 2.5% raise, they took out SSN even though everyone maxed out, no raises for almost everyone who were promoted. No cell phone stipend, paying more for benefits, company cars taken away from Directors. Shitty stock grant. Shitty support. Can't get samples. No one in charge. No one can make a decision. A bunch of fucking ass clowns running this clown car. It's a complete shit show. I thought the Valeant vets were being dramatic. They were not. It really is that bad. Not to mention no payer pre-work before Ibs launch. 75% of X550 written in past was for IBS. This is such a shit show. I'm out. I'm actively looking. $65k in bonus is a fucking joke. Unattainable.

Nothing works

Executive Management: It is a direct reflection of leadership when nothing works, and even more, when nothing seems to be done about it. So many third party vendors with lack of accountability:

Orator: Platform is slow and unresponsive - as is their team;
Webex: Seriously, how many must be riddled with issues such as not being able to hear the content, the speaker not knowing how to use the system, etc before something is done about it? This has been the case for two years;
elearn: the only thing I tend to learn is how not to run an educational online course. Cant you just ask the Rasmussen IT department? Plus "we are working with the vendor to resolve the signature issue" for God sake, I've been hearing this for months. And who designs the assessments for the scapegoat compliance modules? An attorney? I have no idea wtf I am reading and then Im quizzed on it - even when I am trying hard to decipher the content.
Irep platform doesn't communicate with Knipper or Vice Versa making double work and lack of insight into what our customers are doing;
Speaking of Insights, does anyone have any idea how to use this amazing tool? My doctorate degree in logic is not paying off
TreatNow: constant backorders are understandable, but The hotline people telling you there are no AOC issues etc, only for you to find out a call later that that was never the case!
Constant App launches that we get harassed to use only for them to get scrapped a few months later
I am sure I have missed quite a few more. please feel free to add them on!

Cobra coverage

To all that left this spring:
If, like me, you received your Cobra coverage from Conexis recently in the mail. You probably may also have noticed that it did NOT match up with the information we received from Acatavis. I.e., Conexis only showed the full rate, not the discounted one based on your severance time. I called Conexis and they said it's up to Actavis to subsidize the $$. I called E&Y and they said, don't worry, Actavis will pick up the difference. When I asked both to get this in writing, I was told no. So, my suggestion to each of you is to call in to E&Y and let them know that Actavis needs to get this clarified or resolved before the due date which is very soon.
If others have better /more info, please share. For those that are affected, it'd be great to leave the snark to another posting.

How can a Sales Rep be promoted to DM of their former district?

This is a bad judgement call by Amgen. Historically, this is how the favoritism and all the compliance issue starts. The newly appointed DM relies on their buds to get any dirt from the other district members on anyone who doesn't kiss their butt. Then they have a problem going from friend to boss and they rely on childlike tactics to "lean hard" on anyone who isn't interested in sucking up to them.

You show up 1.5 hours late to you RFM(everyone is gone and the pigs have cleaned the place out but you can see 2 customers
You return the your car and get an email from your manager telling you a new flag list wasn't done correctly and has to be finished within the hour. Bullshit. More HQ matrix type of shit. Has nothing to do with normal day to day activities-another time burner.
The clinic you're at has terrible connection-time to go to coffee shop to find wi-fi. You finally get it done in a nick of time.
See one more clinic-they don't want to see you but they will take your samples-of course they will sign but you can't witness it. They say if you have to witness it, they aren't interested in your drug. But you know if you do that you lose business, and your competitors will for sure have them sign even though they don't witness. Fucking bullshit job and company.
You go to the library to find a space to do expenses. As your doing them you lose connectivity. You try to get back into COMET and your now "blocked." You call the fucking helpdesk and they tell you to wait 45-60 minutes. It should work then. Fuck.
You then send a message to you manager about another item but it won't leave your outbox. You call the fucknuts at the helpdesk and they tell you your mailbox has reached capacity and you can't send or receive email. Fuck off.
So then you have to send a "request" to increase your mailbox size to your CTL. It takes 24-48 hours to get that taken care of. Meanwhile, you have no working email and your manager would like to have this particular piece of shit, er, I mean information.
You go to the closest bar and have a stiff one because your sick of talking to the fucking guys from India that you can't understand. Fuck the company.
You then get a text message from your manager telling you that you've been selected to be part of a "special" team that will work with marketing. Big fucking deal. That teleconference will be next week-on Friday-4:00 your time. Fuck off.
You then try to see one, just one more customer before calling it quits. Before you do you check your samples to discover that the lot number on your samples is not in your iPad. You check the expiration date-18 months away. No updates to PI. What the fuck? Now what? So, you can't leave samples. It doesn't matter because they don't want them anyway. You finally see her in the hallway and want to use a new reprint that you've received. Of course, you can only fucking use about 25% of it because of all the medical/legal bullshit. Most of the good things that would generate income to the company isn't approved to discuss. Fuck off Merck. When you present it to her, she's not interested anyway. You sell a horseshit piece of drug. You know it, and so does she.
You get back to the car and call the fucks at the helpdesk and get routed all over the place to find your samples analyst. You finally find him, but he doesn't know why your lot number isn't showing up. He wants to do a remote session but you can't because of your piece of shit company computer. It doesn't work. And why should it? It costs only $100 by the time merck gets their discount. Good fucking grief.
You dropped your iPad when some fat-fuck of a lady bumps into you on the elevator. Of course, this happens because she had to force her way into the elevator before you could get out and here wasn't enough room for the both of you. Now you've got a big crack on our iPad and call your manager. He tells you to go to the local Apple store to replace it but it's going to cost you $49. What the fuck? I'll pay it but the fuckers from merck will end up paying me 3 times that amount. They just won't find it.
In the end, you've had enough and call it a day.
When you finally get home you get a message from Bob Fucking Macmahon on your iPad about how great this shit hole of a company is and how safe it is to speak up along with his grating "we'll speak to y'all later" shit ass fuck Texas bullshit accent.

You get to do it all again tomorrow. Holy shit.

Fuck this company.

Took my juicy severance and dropped cash on a new Cayman GTS. Fabulous. Would highly recommend having fun, buying a great sports car, and living life. Sure, investing is healthy, but one needs to live life, too.

Any car freaks seen the new Ferrari 488 GTB? Just out...pre-orders. Looks amazing.

Then there is the new Lambo Huracan. Wow.

Choices, choices, choices.

Anyone else buy a nice ride lately? Been seeing lots of new Vettes.

Seroquel back in news

This story began in 2003, when Dr. Stephen Olson, a psychiatrist at the University of Minnesota used the threat of involuntary commitment to coerce a psychotic young man named Dan Markingson into the so-called "CAFÉ" study: an AstraZeneca-funded trial of antipsychotic drugs aimed at patients experiencing their first psychotic episode. His mother, Mary Weiss, objected to her son's enrollment and tried desperately for months to get Dan out of the study, warning Olson and his co-investigator, Charles Schulz, that her son's condition was deteriorating and that he was in danger of committing suicide. Her warnings were consistently ignored. On May 8, 2004, five months into the CAFÉ study, Dan died after trying to decapitate himself with a box-cutter.

Already turnover?

Contacted by a recruiter to interview next week for a position I was told in April went to another candidate. Are there already people leaving or washing out of training?

Already turnover?

OKC scored the lowest in the recent "survey" for a reason.

Inept leadership, piss poor training, disregarded processes, clueless HR, unqualified people in key positions. It's a joke. Where to start? Probably just before the "lean transformation" 7ish years ago? Supposedly to "take the lead" in a new way of thinking for manufacturing. Actually, a couple of years later it was revealed that OKC was about to be closed and actually "lean" was a sink or swim endeavor. Kudos for the effort. Problem is they left out the key element for a smooth 'transformation" which is "total employee involvement", they basically told everyone that your input will be considered but this is how we are going to do it. Like it or leave it. Just a bunch of pompous jackasses. The idea is to eliminate waste but what it actually does is make less people do more. Which in turn = cutting corners = a decline in quality and stressing out employees. Precisely why many companies abandon it over time. In essence it's a failure.

You try to express your disdain to the HR lady JoAnn and she'll tell you want you want to hear but never does anything about it, of course to cater to management. When she had her meeting for the Compass rollout a while back someone said something critical and her response was "if you don't like working here, you can always find work somewhere else." Classy.

They are having little six person "round table discussions" with Joe and JoAnn to try to get input from everyone, but you can tell it's only because they were told to do something from higher up and are required to. Kinda desperate. They think giving giving away movie tickets and pizza parties is the answer. Clueless. It's nothing but excuses when it comes to pay, overworked employees, leaders not taking priority in fixing problems that directly affect production and profits, blowing off employees when bringing those issues to light. All you hear is "it is what it is" or "there's not enough hours in the day". Worse yet, they will tell you that they will look into a problem and month goes by and nothing. You bring it up again a month later and then still nothing. 6 months later it finally causes several problems upstream and all of a sudden all their energy is tied up fixing a problem that should have been dealt with 9 months previously. It's just a shithole with pompous leadership that could care less about their employees.

Like the survey from 4-5 years ago where the concern was that 31% of SN employees would NOT recommend it to their friends as a potential employer caught some attention, it's good that this most recent survey exposes that the OKC facility has MAJOR issues. However, nobody that works there expects anything to really be done about it. It's ran by a bunch of amateurs from Joe to JoAnn to Troy to Michael to Curtis to Jeff to Paula. It's unfortunate because they have a quality employee base that they basically treat like shit.

OKC scored the lowest in the recent "survey" for a reason.

A Tale Of Two Reps

It was the best of times (Centocor), it was the worst of times (JBI), it was the age of wisdom (Habig), it was the age of foolishness (MH)....
Two smart, highly successful, well respected NE academic reps watch their careers careen into the abyss for entirely different reasons. The common thread: Leadership that is reminiscent of the aristocracy before the French Revolution. Nepotism at the expense of competence and vision. Or, common sense for that matter.
One rep, a friend to all, puts up numbers but is content to be a rep. He is humble. He always has a kind thing to say. He has integrity. So, of course the way you treat this top performer is to plot his downfall. Malign his character. Ostracize him. Create a fantastic story worthy of Lewis Carroll --how his numbers aren't really his, and how up is down! Quite the clever boys the managers and directors are, the manager never having sold but having slain the Jabberwock. And such is the fate of the rep laid low.
The second rep, very bright indeed. Keen sense of the playing field and adept in the use of all of its pieces. Sacrifice family time for the midnight oil that leads to promotion. Heracles couldn't have kept up with this rep's labors. All done with a sincere smile and willingness to help anyone at a moments notice. Surely this stalwart would be found in the upper echelon of leadership by now? Passed over time and again by those less talented, less experienced. Let us placate him with an obtuse position that lacks both meaning and definition. And such is the fate of the rep laid low.

A Tale Of Two Reps

Get rid of Hope and Dak

Did you see the latest IMS data...what a bunch of horseshit!! Either level the playing field or make it based on growth, because she can't grow shit and will make a bunch of money driving around in her Mercedes (because she's too good to drive a company car and doesn't want them seeing that she doesn't work by not filling up her gas) the way it is now.

And Andy/Ashish....pay some fucking money to those at the middle and bottom. Its not their fault that they have more competitive managed care issues. And if you are not willing to cheat the system to get more RXs (like Hope and Dak) you can't win. You will NEVER grow as a company or retain any talent when you can only look forward to a goose egg at the end of a quarter after working your ass off.

AZ 401(k) saving plan

I’ve heard that other companies' 401(k) savings plans, are now offering immediate and fixed differed annuities as an option within the 401(k) saving plan. Has anyone spoken to anyone within AZ’s HR department, or heard anything about this as a future option? Companies that are offering this option have realized that they can negotiate a better APY for its employees within the plan on fixed deferred annuities & immediate annuities, as opposed to what is available on the open market.

Life after Bellevue

Well, I just got an offer selling in the wound care arena. Not the prettiest specialty, but the pay and commission scale is really good. I'm glad I was able to parlay this gig into something that will enable me to provide nicely for my family. For those who are still holding on to this job, I'd advise you to make the leap before you have nothing to show a potential employer. I was able to show consistent territory growth during my interview, and I'm pretty sure that's what landed me the position. Don't wait too long, once your numbers drop significantly it's very difficult to sell yourself to another company. Anyway, just wanted to assure you all that there is life after compounding. Wishing you all the very best...good luck!

Lawsuit Anyone?

Just curious if anyone feels like there is a class action lawsuit that needs to take place. I was a former employee and I have never seen more harassment or lies that are thrown around on a daily basis then from this company. They were horrible to work for and everyone I know that still works there is treated unfairly. I have been told that I should attain an attorney but out of exhaustion of what they put me through I have not taken any action. I keep receiving calls about how they are treating the current employees and I am just starting to wonder if something really needs to be done. On a positive note, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with a great sales history that has been run into the ground by this company.

Does anyone on this board actually work at AbbVie?

Does anyone on this board actually work at AbbVie? Or have something productive to discuss? Everyone seems so pissed off all the time, however they apparently just stick around to bitch about it. Especially the "reps", who obviously make the most of any low-mid level employees. Profits are stable, stocks at an all time high and AbbVie is doing quite well, so what's the problem? I really don't think AbbVie is on the verge of collapse or being bought out by Gilead, so just stop!

Haven’t worked with or talked to anyone who actually hates AbbVie as much as these anonymous posts, so I’m starting to think it’s other companies blasting AbbVie with propaganda and negative rhetoric. If this is actually the case, WOW that’s sad.

Consumers aka BUYERS & 1-800-Contacts score big win against price fixing on contacts

By LINDSAY WHITEHURST, Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY — Discount contact lens sellers scored a legal victory in an increasingly bitter pricing war with manufacturers as a federal appeals court cleared the way for a hotly contested law Utah law that could have wide-ranging effects on the $4 billion industry.

The decision handed down Friday from the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver clears the way for discount contact lens retailers to drop prices while a legal battle is waged between the state of Utah and manufacturers who want to impose minimum prices on their products. It comes after three of the nation's largest contact lens manufacturers sued to halt the measure.

Supporters, including Utah-based discount seller 1-800 Contacts, say the newly enacted legislation bans price fixing for contact lenses. But opponents, including Alcon Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson and Bausch & Lomb, say it's a brazen overreach that allows discount sellers to violate interstate commerce regulations and skirt industry price standards.

Company officials said in a statement that they plan to drop prices, calling the ruling "another victory in the ongoing battle to lower prices to consumers of contact lenses."

Utah's attorney general has said the companies are wrongly driving up prices, and the law is a legitimate antitrust measure designed to enhance competition and help customers. Attorney General Sean Reyes' office didn't have a comment on the decision Friday.

The ruling allows the law to go into effect while a legal battle over the measure works its way through the courts. The appeals court did agree to fast-track the case, and new briefs are due in the case later this month.

Donna Lorenson, a spokeswoman for Alcon, said the company is "extremely disappointed" and maintains the law violates interstate commerce rules.

Johnson & Johnson spokeswoman Carol Goodrich said the company is moving ahead with the appeal and the minimum prices are legal.

Bausch & Lomb representatives didn't respond to emails seeking comment.

Utah's Legislature passed the measure backed by 1-800 Contacts amid increasingly bitter pricing battles in the industry. While many contact lens sales come from eye doctors, discounters have been making inroads in recent years, and now 1-800 Contacts is now one of the nation's largest lens retailers.

Lawmakers deny the legislation was written to specifically benefit 1-800 Contacts.

The Utah measure bans pricing programs started by manufacturers who threatened to yank their products from resellers whose prices dipped too low.

The contact lens makers that dominate the market say the price minimums protect eye doctors from being undercut by sellers who don't offer the same expertise, but the pricing policies have also been scrutinized by Congress, consumer advocates and others.
