Currently interviewing for the GSK contract, and was told the bonus is 20K/year.
Is that correct?
Usually, I cut the bonus in half, because this is the pharmaceutical industry and I know these companies are full of crap.

Don't be a fool and plan on staying here for a new drug launch. Many Pharmacy departments have already stated they will not take any future Mallinckrodt drugs to P&T for formulary no matter what it is. All you need to do is ask any of your close pharmacy contacts what they think and they will tell you to run for the hills. They may now have to work with Mallinckrodt in terms of pricing contracts with Ofirmev because what is done is done, but they will not allow another Mallinckrodt drug to be approved. Several physicians that had put their name on the line to push for Ofirmev only to be hit on the head with a triple price increase, will not make the same mistake again. So unless they are planning to be bought and there is a company name change, you can pretty much expect a disaster. Launching a new drug in the hospital is already an enormous and sometimes insurmountable task, but with these other factors it will be significantly worse.

"Home Made Bread" or "Home Baked Bread"
One one of these discussion threads, somebody made reference to "Home Made/Baked Bread", and several remarkers remarked that they had no idea what the original poster was saying...
In the pharma world, "Home Made/Baked Bread" is an industry slang for salespieces and promotional items which are not company marketing department, let alone FDA, approved for use in the field with prescribing medical professionals to promote the sales of ethical drugs.
In short, if you are a drug-rep who has been accused of using "homemade bread" you are being accused of distributing sales/promotional materials which you have 'cooked-up' on your own time, using your own resources, going outside the legally-bound marketing department and the FDA, and creating your own, individual sales-promotional items from your personal computer and printer and/or using clinical studies for promotion which have not been approved and disseminated by your company's marketing department.
I've done it before, to VERY good effect and reward, with a completely lame and incompetent legal department at a pharma company which no longer exists. At that time and place the risk of termination proved to ABSOLUTELY be worth the danger. I won a company paid trip to a very desirable destination in the Far East which I would never be able to afford, otherwise.
You need to weigh in your mind how badly you need your current job and if the risk of termination is worth it. I was kinda reckless, back in the day, and I got away with it, with substantial reward, but I would tend to caution you younger guys with families away from trying that path.
The short-term gain in market share/TRX weighed against your livelihood and keeping your bills covered would tend to speak against using "Home Made Bread".

It does not look good to me. The numbers are not coming for anybody. This product is underperforming with lots of voice behind it. I was thinking Challenger and all the coaching was part of the problem. Spending too much time coaching and being coached vs actually selling, but DSI is not moving it either. One more year on Seroquel then the heads roll.

Let's see, we have to push Anoro and Breo, while we are having rent a reps walking around with what offices all want......Advair. Face it, we get time in most offices because doc has to sign for Advair. Without Advair samps, offices would most office need nothing and tell you to move along please. In the mean time we are essentially fighting for the same COPD patients with three different drugs and pulling the rug out from under us by taking away Advair. Face it GSK you can not grow all three products when competing for the same patient. You can not have your cake and eat it too!

The Glory Days are Officially Over at Horizon Pharma!! The Management Team is now being run by Attorneys that don't give a shit about you, me or even the patients we service each and every day! There only focus is to Hit $88 per/share so that they can cash out there golden parachutes and leave the rest of us behind. That is if they haven't fired all of us by then! I mean how unmotivating was that IC conf call where they basically cut everyone bonus payout by more than 50% just to benefit the investors while crushing the Sales Force and the people that are responsible for making Horizon what It is today! Pretty shitty thing to do if you ask me. Then Terry Evans has the nerve to to talk about the employee stock purchase program cause how many reps actually can afford to pull out 15% of there base pay when they are slashing our bonus payouts at the same time. Then, knowing that he is feeding the best Sales force in the industry a big shit sandwich to eat he closed the call stating, that he basically is doing this to satisfy investors and if people feel they are being mistreated they could look for a job somewhere else!!! You sir, sure know how to motivate 325 Sales Reps!! Again, all they care about is filling there golden parachutes and screwing anyone who gets in there way! In my District alone I have talked to 4 people that are interviewing with other companies as we speak. And those are the only 4 that I've talked to! Moral of the story, People come first in any business.....or you have no business!!!

What's your take/opinions on this. Mine is it shouldn't change I know it's been messy but this isn't the dna even though I think dna is such a great test. Quantitative Drug Testing Should Not be Reduced to a Single Code. I sympathize with the pain doctors’ dilemma and don’t fault them for trying to do what is right. I’m sure there are unethical ones out there, but wealth envy should be placed aside until there is evidence that a particular doctor has overused testing for his own financial gain. Imagine trying to control your patient’s pain with opiates while that patient maintains a demanding driving schedule for his cargo truck. Would you be able to sleep at night? A recent survey showed 20% of healthcare workers were taking pain drugs or prescription drugs that could be addictive. Would you want to be held responsible for a nurse giving the wrong drug to a patient when she herself is on a pain drug?
The quantitative testing does give the doctors gross dosing information–that’s all they need. More importantly, confirmatory testing looks at metabolites and has greater sensitivity and specificity than IA screening. The real value though is in finding unexpected negatives and positives, confirming the IA results beyond any doubt.
More recently, U.S. health officials have raised serious concerns over the increase in heroin use and overdoses stemming from the use of prescription pain medication. A 2014 CDC study showed that between 2009 and 2012, there was a 74 percent increase in the number of people using heroin, and that about three out of four new heroin users began by using prescription pain medications.

If we all stop posting to this forum at least one corporate job will go away. Aurora has probably hired 1 person at a high salary to just watch this forum. And from what I can see everyone has posted the same BS since it started.
1. Aurora is going to go down in flames & all labs will be closed. Hasn't happened yet. And as long as they keep getting someone to keep giving them money it won't happen.
2. They are all clowns-- yes they are but somehow it keeps a float. Not because of the clowns that run it because of the hard working employees that still have good ethics & want to be part of a decent lab that someday their family and friends depend on for a good diagnosis.
3. But I'm sorry to say the day is coming when all of the decent employees will be gone to retirement or just can't take the BS anymore and the so called clown car will be running on people who don't give a dam about anything other then their paycheck.

I have been doing this gig 3 years and I am already seeing what everyone is talking about. It is a dead end job. I am in my late 20's and I see my classmates getting solid, professional jobs that they are actually using their brain. I hate to say it but this job is one of the most demoralizing jobs I have had. (Including the restaurants I worked in through school).
I am starting my MBA program this fall. If I would get separated, do we still get a tuition reimbursement for classes we already registered for?
I have been doing this gig 3 years and I am already seeing what everyone is talking about. It is a dead end job. i left Biogen two years ago to go work for an agency. When we called on them last week I couldn't believe what I saw. The great people who I worked with were all gone replaced by losers from other pharma companies. I also noticed that now there are 3 people doing the work of one? As we sat in the parking lot after our pitch the 4 of us were silent until our VP finally said "what a bunch of arrogant asses". We are not following up, it's just not worth it

Does my Castle Medical Employment Agreement discuss the issue about Castle not paying me commissions for sales I have closed and were executed by the client? And when the client defaults, did I sign an agreement with Castle Medical guaranteeing payment for these samples and services being sent in from my territory and sales effort?

Been retired from Forest now for a year. I am a multi-jacketed man. I won 7 Green Jackets (opted for Green Vest 3 times also) and now I am basically a wealthy retiree at 44. It's too bad you aren't trying to build a relationship with me like BI, Zoetis and Elanco. They bring value and pertinent information to me and my swine clients. All you talk about is making your goal, getting your product into my clients and how you did things when you were raising pigs. If you were so great at raising pigs, why aren't you still doing it. Try to be more of a listener and provide information that will get you to your sales goal, then things will happen when the trust factor is built between you and my clinic. At a recent meeting with other swine vets your name got brought up because you are focused on your goal and not relationships. You need to realize the value of building trust, relationships and friendship. Then things will happen for you.

Combining primary care and diabetes
Has anyone else heard this? I'm assuming this will happen around the time Crestor goes generic. Either end of 2015, Q1, or Q2 of next year. I imagine there will be significant duplications. I'm not one to scream the sky is falling, but this seems pretty obvious something has got to give. We will have too many people and not enough drugs. Does anyone know anything? Any predictions? Also, with the new diabetes structure being an abysmal failure I'm sure the high ups are eager to change things around again. This would be the perfect time for another realignment....

Mark T. is a horrible leader that does not engage in conversation with anyone at the company. He couldn't tell you anything about one of his employees versus the janitor of the building. His main objective is to make money for himself which is evident on his pay two years ago. Can anyone possibly comprehend what he makes now? Mark has no idea how to run a company nor does he know anything about the hospital selling environment. Mark's goal is to fool the world in terms of company profitability and sell. In some estimations, Mark exceeds 19 million a year in pay now and for what? So he can continue to take company paid holidays over to Dublin and elsewhere?
Mike M. - Mike was hired on as he was Mark T's buddy yet he has no social skills and about as genuine as a three headed dog. He and his wife continue to go on extravagant vacations that are beyond peoples imagination and yet does nothing here. Don't ever slip and say anything to MM as it will be your undoing. He is cold and calculating behind that fake exterior and was one of the masterminds behind the last layoff.
Jimmy Di Puppet - beware of Jim. He appears to be a concerned and thoughtful kitten, but in reality he is incredibly self-serving and only cares about his rise to the top and title. He is a master-mind of being kind to your face but in reality he will not defy upper management at all and doesn't want to make any waves. You will get the least far for him. He is filled with empty promises and would make a great politician because it sounds very sincere at the time but again it is self serving and nothing he promises come true. To date, none of his promises have become reality and he is always filled with hot air. The wors overindulgent, glutton, and liar come to mind.
Stacy C - Stacy is a cunning and ruthless B. She will stop at nothing to further her career and has been known for backstabbing quite a lot of people. Stacy has never been in sales in her entire career but knew what actions to take with the right men to float her career and power. Her biggest achievement to date was masterminding a promotion when her entire division was being let go. If most people would know the behind the scenes steps she took to make sure her position was guaranteed would make people nauseous. In fact Stacy had known about this for over two months. She became very quiet during this time as she was creating her pitch for a better opportunity that would actually give her a 30% salary raise all knowing this time that jobs and families would be adversely affected and people were actually buying new cars with hopes of the future from her.

6. Mallinckrodt has never had a hospital sales force before and they don't know how to treat their employees well.
7. You don't have a protected territory at all. So if you do manage to grow your business be prepared for them to take it away at any moment.
8. Their bonus program is a complete fabrication. Don't believe anything they tell you.
9. The leaders heading this organization are a bunch of egocentric bastards that are only out for themselves.

Biogen Plunges After Cowen Says Alzheimer’s Drug Data Pose Risk
Biogen Inc. dropped the most since April after Cowen & Co. said the biotechnology company’s stock price faces risk from data coming later this month on a drug to treat Alzheimer’s disease.
Investors are awaiting further insight into BIIB037, an experimental medication that has shown promise. In March, Biogen said that in an early-stage trial of 166 patients, BIIB037 reversed build-up of beta amyloid, a plaque linked to the brain disease, and also reduced cognitive decline. On July 22, Biogen will present data to show how one group of those patients, on a 6-milligram dosage, fared after 12 months on the drug.
Enthusiasm for BIIB037 has helped propel Biogen’s stock up about 14 percent this year. The shares could swing $50 in either direction depending on how much the drug held off cognitive decline compared with a placebo, Cowen analyst Eric Schmidt said in a note to clients.
“Even small changes to the drug’s probability of success are likely to have a substantial impact on Biogen’s share price,” Schmidt said. “While we are biased somewhat to the positive side, we lack conviction in this binary event.”
Biogen declined 2.8 percent to $388 at 11:09 a.m. in New York. It fell as much as 4.4 percent earlier, the biggest intraday decline since April 24. It was among the 10 biggest decliners on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
Also Friday, Biogen’s head of research and development, Douglas Williams, said he would leave the company at the end of the month to become chief executive officer of an undisclosed biotech company. Chief Medical Officer Alfred Sandrock and Chief Scientific Officer Spyros Artavanis-Tsakonas will take over Williams’s responsibilities, the company said in a statement.

Would you identify as having a disability on a job application?
I've been filling out job applications on line and I am wondering about the section where they ask you to "voluntarily declare" any of the assorted disabilities you may have. My first reaction is that it's really none of their business and I always thought it was probably a kiss of death to put anything down in that section. I assumed my application would be filed quickly under the "do not hire" list. But lately I am starting to wonder. Is there some sort of quota a company has to meet and would a disability actually HELP my chances of getting an interview? I am a recently diagnosed diabetic, which is listed as one of the classified "disabilities". I don't see it as that though. I just have to watch my diet, take my meds, and I am good to go. That's why I wasn't declaring it. But should I? If I helps m get the job....why not? Anyone have any thoughts if it puts me on a short list that they have to offer an interview to? I'll gladly step up and I press the heck out of them if I can only get in front of them. How would you fill out that section?

What a joke!!! You are going to have people go up on stage a collect an award when Mallinckrodt's sale's year is finished at the end of September? They have just taken apart volume leader territories with this realignment and the territories haven't even been officially announced yet. Now with approximately 10 weeks left for the year and they are going to award people with a trip???!
Just like someone noted earlier, this is going to be the biggest joke of a President's Club in the history of this industry. They are going to manipulate and manipulate those numbers to make sure they give other's a "fair shot" at the award.
I wish this company would be investigated. They are the most unscrupulous company there is. Believe nothing they tell you and just know those numbers will be fixed.
