Happy Labor Day

To every current and past CVT employee, enjoy this Labor Day. Look forward, not back. Be thankful for what you have and what can be. While I am past CVT, I am very thankful for many, many good years . It has taken a little time to look back and be o.k with how it all played out. Do what you need to do, but above all, like who you are and strive for health and happiness. It's all part of the journey.

Happy Labor Day

2015 Salary Changes

When we received the calls that we still had positions, we were also told that for now our salary would remain the same but that they would be reviewed at the end of the year.

It seems like Legacy Actavis has heftier base salaries than Forest, since Forest hires all reps in at around 50K now.

Can the company lower our salaries for 2015 if we are making significantly more than that?

A Comment from Captain Obvious

Okay people do the math! If there are 7 million women who are being treated for symptoms of VVA and we average around 4,000 Osphena rxs per week that means 1 in about 1, 750 women are on Osphena. This is after a huge DTC push that reached 5 million viewers during the nightly news alone. How do you spell Osphena? FAILURE!!!!

Platelet-Rich-Plasma Opportunities

We are looking for seasoned independents to fill many open territories for a new PRP system. Looking for wide specialty coverage capabilities, orthopedics, CV/CT/T, ENT/Oral Surgery, plastics/aesthetics.

The main competition all over the US is probably is Harvest. Other competition is Biomet, and to some degree Angel (we have the same competitive edge over all three).

1. We definitely compete on price.

2. It is easy to operate and to transfer the technical skills and knowledge to produce the final desired product, more so than any other system out there.

3. There are 4 main types of PRP products requested by physicians (with RBCs, without RBCs, each of those with or without activation) This system will produce all of them. It is easy to manipulate the concentration depending on how much final product is required. In Cardiovascular/Cardio Thoracic applications you will most likely use the 1st type activated with calcium chloride and mixed with thrombin to form a fibrin glue-like product which is heavily laced with growth and healing factors that will be sprayed on the anastomosis and into the sternal wound prior to closing. Results are a decrease in healing time, shorter time in ICU, shorter time on heavy narcotics, lower infection and bring back rates.) It is also used in total hips, knees, and in orthopedic scope procedures of all joints.

4. This same disposable and centrifuge will process adipose tissue for stromal vascular fraction and stem cells (We should have the final protocol by the end of the first quarter of 2015).

Looking for experienced, solid independents in West Virginia, New Mexico, Arizona, Nebraska, Kansas, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Michigan. Great system, smaller market, low number of competitors, very good commissions (approximately $1,500 - $1700/case). Lots of good studies.

CSC Taking Over BI

What the F$!K! Now CSC is going to be in every space and we are all expected to support them and roll out the red carpet to all our contacts and offices at the Hospital and Organized Customer C- Suite. What the hell do these people bring to the table? No one knows what they do or understands why they are here, but Sr. MGMT continues to expand their role. My God, who is spiking their cool-aid? I guess what ever comes out of Greta's mouth, even BS stats on the impact of CSC, is seen as gospel. Our CSCs are horrible and we are embarrassed to put them in front of customers because they are so lost. Show me where they have driven sales and what they can do that a seasoned rep, ISR, SAE or HEOR can't? NEWSFLASH Greta and Sr. Mgmt, we don't need or want your CSC "Help". You want to cut costs, look at the sales divisions that do nothing to drive sales and start there! Good God, we keep hanging around hoping Sr. Mgmt will grow a few brain cells but it just doesn't seem to happen..Every other company that tried this model abandoned it long ago for good reason! There are already too many people with the same tools getting in each other's way. This over collaboration is KILLING this company! We are focused more on documenting our collaborative activities than driving sales.....and it shows! Yet we continue to have mtg after mtg on collaboration. We all leave these mtgs and say "f!$k that!" We then call each other and joke about it. There is no buy-in for a reason! Please stop the madness and just let us sell. Perhaps we might hit our numbers and actually drive profit. And for God's sake, someone develop an alignment that makes some sense! You have reps selling Jardiance that don't carry Tradjenta! That really builds credibility in front if the provider! Not disgruntled, just frustrated as Hell! Who's our new Sr. VP of Sales?? Can't even remember her name. Please jump in the saddle soon and fix this craziness!

Auxilium Posts Wider-than-Expected Loss, Outlook Maintained

Zacks By Zacks Equity Research

August 12, 2014 1:58 PM

The share price of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AUXL) fell 9.6% after the company announced its second-quarter results on Aug 7. However, share prices have recovered approximately 3.1% thereafter.

Auxilium Pharma reported second quarter 2014 loss (including stock-based compensation expense) of 54 cents per share, much wider than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of 45 cents per share. The company had reported earnings of 14 cents per share in the year-ago quarter.

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc - Earnings Surprise | FindTheBest

Second quarter revenues decreased 17.4% year over year to $83.0 million. Revenues were impacted by a decrease in Testim and Testopel revenues. However, the quarter saw an increase in Xiaflex and Stendra revenues. Revenues, however, fell short of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $91 million.

Quarter in Detail

Testim posted sales of $26.1 million in the second quarter of 2014, down 52% year over year. Testim revenues in the U.S. declined 77.6% to $11.9 million. Sales were negatively impacted by slowing growth of the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) market.

The company launched Stendra for erectile dysfunction and Xiaflex for Peyronie's disease (PD.TO) earlier this year. Auxilium Pharma recorded Stendra U.S. net revenues of $6.1 million (including product shipment to wholesalers).

We note that Auxilium Pharma is looking to expand Stendra’s label to include the 15-minute onset of action claim. The FDA is expected to render a final decision on Sep 20, 2014. The product’s fast onset of action and a favorable side effect profile could help Stendra pickup share. We note that the company in-licensed Stendra from VIVUS Inc. (VVUS).

Xiaflex’s U.S. revenues grew 75.3% to $26.3 million. A strong initial launch momentum has been observed for Xiaflex for the PD indication.

While Testopel generated revenues of $4.2 million, Edex revenues were $7.5 million with 52% market share. Both products were gained from the Actient acquisition.

Research and development expenses (including stock-based compensation expense) for the reported quarter declined 16.9% to $11.3 million benefiting from lower spending on Xiaflex. Selling, general and administrative expenses (including stock-based compensation expense) declined 7.6% to $69.2 million.

2014 Guidance

The company reiterated its revenue guidance of $380−$420 million. The Zacks Consensus Estimate of $410 million falls within the guidance range.

In 2014, the company expects Testim revenues to be less than $85 million due to a shrinking TRT gel market, lower Testim market share, and downward pressure on TRT gel scripts due to concerns regarding safety, inventory destocking and higher rebates.

On a year-to-date basis, the company saw a decline of 19% in the TRT gel market. The company expects to report break-even results or a loss of up to $15 million this year.

Our Take

Auxilium Pharma currently carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). Auxilium Pharma’s second quarter results missed both revenues and earnings estimates primarily due to lower Testim revenues.

Auxilium Pharma is now treating Testim as a mature product and hence the company is banking heavily on the successful commercialization of Xiaflex and Stendra.

Meanwhile, in a bid to diversify its portfolio (ophthalmology and the orphan drug space) and save taxes, Auxilium Pharma entered into a definitive agreement to merge with Canadian entity QLT (QLTI) in an all stock deal in Jun 2014. The merger is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2014.

The Industry Changed - Alcon was the last holdout

For those moaning about Novartis "ruining" Alcon, you fail to see that business as we knew it in ophthalmology was over. Patients were demanding generics, doctors had given up their authority and resolve to insist on name brand drugs, and large medical groups had started to shut down access to drug reps and their samples. The good old days (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s) were over, regardless if Novartis bought Alcon or not. Alcon and ophthalmology were just one of the last holds out to get affected by Big Healthcare.

First Rule of Management: Take Care of Your People

"It is a person's moral obligation and social responsibility to protect a culture that provides an honorable and dignified place in which to work." - Arthur T. Demoulas, CEO Market Basket, August 28, 2014

I had the honor and privilege of serving local governments in Massachusetts for nearly 12 years. While serving, I observed, learned, grew into and finally became part of that region. And I learned (or relearned) many important life lessons. The golden rule always applies, we have far more in common with each other than we have differences, and my grandfather's first (and only) rule of management: Take Care of Your People.

One other thing I learned to do was to shop at Market Basket. Their prices were always cheaper, the selection was as good as other places and it just had an Old School kind of charm. I never knew exactly why their were so many employees, but many were there every time I shopped, year after year, always working and seemingly available to assist when you needed them.

If you have not observed what happened at this company this summer, then you are either not in New England or have not been reading much news. Because what happened was nothing short of a miracle. Market Basket - a 71-store regional grocery chain valued at approximately $3 Billion and employing at least 25,000 people - essentially shut down because its non-unionized employees and vendors walked off the job for nearly 2 months. Why? Because of a long-standing, long-simmering dispute within the Board of Directors and family which owned the company. One side pushed for higher profits, one side pushed for keeping prices low and compensation and benefits above average as has become the operational model for decades. And when the latter was forced out of power, the employees responded by boycotting their own jobs until the boss which had taken care of them was returned to his position as CEO. What ensued was "The Summer of Market Basket" to quote the Boston Globe and others - a family drama which played out in the papers and social media, nearly daily protests in front of stores, a large boycott by customers and vendors, appeals from politicians to resolve the dispute and store sales which plummeted in some cases 90%.

From a management perspective, take a moment and pause. 25,000 employees - right to work employees with no union protections or contracts - left their jobs with no guarantee of getting them back because of their loyalty to their boss. Most of the customer base boycotted and protested along side them. An entire community did not like what was happening and so it came together to peacefully protest it. And the most amazing part of this story? It worked. Today, "Artie T." as he is known locally, is back as CEO, and employees are back at work. It is a story of resiliency, of determination and of loyalty.

And I could not be happier or prouder of this result. For many reasons. But the management lesson here is crystal clear, and is my grandfather's voice coming back to me: Take care of your people. If you do, you can achieve anything. If you do not, you will achieve nothing.

And if you are in the New England region, or plan to visit, go and shop at Market Basket. They will need the business, and you will be taking care of their people.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Somebody needs to fight this

Let me start by stating a few facts. It really doesn't matter whether I was in devices, equipment, biotech, or pharma, what happened to me happens every day, in every industry.

I realize this site has its bitter and disgruntled, however, I read many posts and have read many excellent and truthful responses from posters.

I was fired without cause, no severance, no PIP, simply because management wanted their own person in a particular position. Although I worked hard and was always a top achiever, I honestly admit I didn't like the company, nor what I was doing. I put a smile on my face everyday and worked for a very disfunctional organization. If they approached me and said " look, this isn't working out, here's 2-3 months pay, sign this document, and leave with dignity...but no offer like that ever came or was made.

I have heard it over and over..." this is at will employment, you need to prove discrimination", etc...I am not generally a crusader, However, this arrogance on the part of companies with their high powered legal teams needs to stop. I have the time now. I am receiving unemployment, and that pays 1/8th of what I need every month, but I have to do this. I might look back and say, I should have fought...I might have won something, possibly a settlement?

I know attorneys who might help me, although I have even been told by them it's an uphill battle...but I am going to do this...I will fight this because I have felt it happen to me, and seen it happen to too many others. These companies need to be accountable. Too many times salespeople are the scape goats for them wanting to improve bottom line results. Wish me luck.

Need help, contacted by recruiter, wont tell me the companies name

Trying to find some info about the company. I have just started reading the post and have some questions. I may find the answers when I read on but just in case I don't I wanted to get some answers before.

I appreciate any info you can give me. I got a call from a recruiter and said "Company Confidential" is hiring in Georgia. He told me about the position and a little about the company. This is all I know: The company he wants me to interview with is the Largest wound care company world wide. They have offices all over the world. The company is from Europe. The manager I would be interviewing has fast tracked it into management. But The recruiter called that person a "He" not a she. I did read a little before coming to this thread that there is a new RSM and female and does not seem to be liked. I have management experience and he told me not to mention that at the interview and take it off my resume because the new manager will feel like I will be after their job. He said that in wound care I would be calling on hospitals half the time orthopedics? and mom and pop pharmacies the rest of the time to stock the shelves etc.

He said that everyone he talked to about this interview wants this job. And he was very serious about being VERY SERIOUS about this apparent ELITE company.

Who is the RSM for Georgia?

Is the territory all of Georgia?

Do you have the "compressor" not sure of the spelling and if you do are you the only ones who have this?

Is the wound care line really large with multiple ways to treat wounds with different bandages ointments etc.?

Does this sound familiar at all..and if this is not the company does anyone know who the company might be?

I am leaving out my personal feelings on this..but been in med sales for 10 years and 7 before that in big pharma ..I know the deal and I know what to stay away from. Just from the recruiters attitude, as if I should be kissing the ground that I have been even contacted by him to be presented to this company, had e right on the edge of saying thanks but no thanks. I only bow down and worship one God and that God is not a medical device sales company or any company for that matter.

Thanks for your time!!!

If Remicade goes off patent

A Manager stated that if this drug goes off patent JBI could be in big trouble and that the entire Pharma sector would indeed be impacted in a negative outcome. Is this true about the patent? It it is true who would be effected and does that mean more freezes, new hires in a contract Sales Force? Or shutting down entire divisions? I lived this with Janssen before and it was very stressful times. I don't think I would try to stay around again.

The New Contract Model

The way Medtronic keeps talking about this Covidien combination, Omar is acting like it's only Hospital contracts going forward.

New model:

-system wide contracts

-specified-in-contract product support (by clinical specialist)

-unit or revenue minimums

No need for sales team.

I think this will take hold in some hospitals but overall it would lead to hugely pissed-off doctors.

The New Contract Model

New Drug

They better not be hoping to completely launch a new drug which will involve P&T as it will be an epic fail. Why Your Company is Managed Not Leading

Too many female middle managers afraid to lose their jobs, others who are dragon ladies. The men that are left are eunuchs.

Why Your Company is Managed Not Leading

At the end of the day...

I think I'm going to start a drinking game called, "At the End of the Day". During every teleconference or meeting from this point forward, whenever a CTL, DCO, VP, or that diabetes marketing manager, uses the phrase, "At the end of the day", I'm taking a drink, and then maybe, just maybe, I can get through "the end of the day."

At the end of the day...

So what is new with the boys Tage, Peter, Mohammed, and Stevie?

Are they all still acting like they know what their doing?

Do they still suck each other daily?

Plenty of resignations coming in on Friday after Q2 bonus is in via direct deposit.

You should have taken care of your CBMs. Instead you give RSUs to the RBDs, who will still back stab you idiots, and take their CBMs with them.

Wonder what the Board will think of that move Greggy boy? You and" Floyd the Barber " Chambers go down to Mayberry and role play that move.

Baylis Medical- Cardiology Sales Associate

Anyone familiar withe Baylis Medical? I was contacted regarding a Cardiology Sales Associate role, and was wondering what base salary is and how much their reps earn a year with commission. I've been trying to ask around and research what it is like to work for this company but there is very little info out there. Glass door doesn't even have salaries reported. Reviews state pay is low but no numbers given. Do hospitals and doctors actually use their products/how do they stack up against competition? Any insight about the role and company would be a huge help. Thank you.

You can't "optimize" morale

I have been here a while now and when I joined this company, the sense of "we're changing things" was real and palpable. It may not have been accurate, but at least there was a feeling among the vast majority of the sales force that we were truly different from other pharma companies.

It seemed like Novo honestly cared about its employees. It had small little perks - nothing big in the grand scheme of things - being able to use your CC reward points, a better selection of car, a gift at Christmas, aspire points regularly, etc. Not to mention the bigger perks like an awesome health insurance plan or 401k.

Because of these additional benefits, the top employees from other companies wanted to come here, and our best employees didn't want to leave. Further, the high level of morale meant that employees were willing to go "above and beyond." Not everyone...every company has its share of slackers. But the typical rep for Novo 4-5 years ago did a heck of a lot more than the typical Big Pharma rep may have.

We weren't beholden to getting signatures or meeting metrics other than CPC, which was not 80%. We were just told to go out there and sell. We didn't have constant trainings and meetings and meetings about meetings.

But most of all, it was that feeling the company CARED.

The last 12 months, almost all of that has gone. And to save what? MAYBE a few million dollars...on products that sell BILLIONS per quarter. Sure, we have "managed growth" or whatever you want to call it, but at the expense of morale.

You can't put a price on morale - you can't put a price on the lost productivity or the all-star employee that leaves for a better gig. But if you were to attempt to, I bet its a whole lot more than a few diners club reward points.

Good luck benchmarking yourself against the rest of the industry. Pay your external associates millions to become just like every other Big Pharma company. Your arrogance in this time of change has been truly astounding.

You can't "optimize" morale

Brits celebrate burning White House

Dear American Serfs, Servants, and Slaves

Please increase your efforts to rob the American Taxpayer through overpriced AstraZeneca drugs used to support the British economy. Colonies are to be exploited.

Sunday the British Embassy posted a picture of Patrick Davis, deputy British ambassador to the United States, with a caption saying he was participating in "the anniversary of burning of the White House with a BBQ.”

The picture was followed by another, about an hour later, that showed a White House replica atop a sheet cake, flanked by sparklers. The caption said: “Commemorating the 200th anniversary of burning the White House. Only sparklers this time!”

British troops on Aug. 24, 1814, charged into Washington, setting the White House on fire and capturing the U.S. Capitol building.

why did u buy questcor

answer

cramer we bought questcor because we were the right company to buy questcor. 19 indications. jim can I also add we know pain management. we know pain management.

(except xxr is a flop and we just downsized the sales force but made it on the grounds of pips so don't have to admit a downsizing to wall street, pay adequate severance or take responsibility one year into going solo. not to mention recent actions seem to trend that not understand the changing opioid landscape and you bought a company that made a platform of magnifying the dangers and over use of opioids.)

Too many Cubes is not sweet

The Medicines Company is making a big mistake hiring all of these Cubist and Durata reps. The lack of professionalism upon which they exit a company is indicative of the attitudes you will face at the first sign of any challenges down the road. Bringing in an entire group of representatives all from the same company or background can backfire when they turn against the leadership. Look at the Durata board if you want to get a taste of what to expect.

All will be well in the very beginning as the relationship starts with the company impressed by these high performers and their qualifications. The reps are equally impressed by the company. Soon thereafter, the company realizes that many of these so-called high performers with outstanding relationships don't really have what it takes to sell. The reps realize that the company as well as much of the leadership the leadership team knows nothing about the anti-infective market and the blame game begins......

The reps not performing will claim that the company's marketing or pricing strategies make it impossible to sell their drug. They will also claim that the ID market is very slow to adopt new drugs and that the company needs to understand that it could take years before anything begins to happen. The company does not want to wait years and expected these reps with all the great relationships they have to get things going. The reps don't want to jeopardize the relationships they took years to build with a hard sell and the company doesn't see the value of having a relationship if it doesn't help sell the product. It has been months now and many of the representatives have not sold a thing, now the negativity begins.....

There will be clear separation between the have and the have-nots and resentment and entitlement begin to rear their ugly head. The company grows impatient with the under-performing excuse laden reps. The reps blame the cardiovascular focused management team for not knowing anything about the markets or anti-infectives. They resent being led by someone that brings no value to them.

With sales going nowhere the pressure mounts and the company is quick to make moves on the under-performers, the entitled reps who are used to a long honeymoon period are shocked that they aren't permitted to under-perform for at least a few years before getting terminated. Both voluntary and involuntary turnover runs rampant in the first 12-18 months. the company is shocked at how quickly the group has turned negative. The stock price has gone down and options are all worthless.

The company now realizes that hiring representatives with the exact same phenotype and backgrounds was a big mistake. Chatter among the cliquey Cubies intensifies and many now move on to the next big thing realizing that coming here was a mistake.

Just a guess, but this scenario may just play out this way. Time will tell, and I'll be sure to come back and remind you when it does.

Too many Cubes is not sweet

Any old Lovenox reps out there remember his epic "Hitler-esque" appearance at our National Meeting in the early 2000's telling us we were basically shit and anyone not towing the line would get shit canned? DOUBLE CHECK YOUR PICKS!!

SUMMARIZED RULES:

1) Pickers who elect to remain anonymous are welcome, but must adopt an unregistered sport's board name (ie. BroncoBoy) to get due recognition for your picks. Please identify yourself with each post.

2) During regular season play all picks will be based on the "odds" or the "point" system reported by USA Today (SportsDirect) prior to the week's games. The "points" recognized will be the "points" displayed on posted "Pick-Em" schedule that will available for viewing 3-4 days in advance of the week's games. Should the "point" spreads change after the "Pick-Em" schedule is posted - the revised "points" shall not apply.

3) YOU CANNOT EDIT YOUR PICKS & POSTS BEFORE GAME TIME!! You may pick a Thursday Night Game and make the rest of your picks before 11:00 AM SATURDAY EASTERN TIME!!

4) Not all NCAA Div. 1 games will make the weekly "Pick-Em" schedule. Only those major games of interest. We are going for quality here. Not quantity. Games with a 21 "point" spread or greater are highly discouraged. If a picker wants to add an unlisted game contact the interim coordinator BroncoBoy.

5) All pickers shall show respect and courtesy toward their fellow pickers (BRONCOBOY!). A competitive spirit is fine. But let's keep it clean and be friends. We don't want to evolve into vitriol and mean spiritness that got the poli board shut down. Be nice to one another.

6) In the event of a board dispute on operational matters - all disputes will be resolved by the majority. There are no kings or queens on this board who have the final say. We are a democracy - and the majority rules. If the majority is only 2 people - so be it.

7) Post-season play (bowl games) shall be based on straight picks and NOT the "point" system used during regular season play.

8. PLEASE!! BOLD & UNDERLINE ALL OF YOUR PICKS!!

Industry pay

I'm currently interviewing and doing some research on salary ranges for different jobs. Just curious to see what others think the average at-plan pay is for different positions in our industry and within Sanofi/Genzyme. Also, has anyone ever successfully negotiated for higher pay during their job offer? 11 years in the industry, I have never once been able to increase an initial offer of salary but have been able to negotiate sign on bonus.

1. Primary care salary and bonus

2. Specialty sales or injectable salary and bonus

3. Oncology salary and bonus

4. Biotech/rare disease salary bonus

5. Field reimbursement salary and bonus

6. District manager salary and bonus

Here are my best guesses:

1. 60-70k, 25k bonus

2. 70-90, 30k bonus

3. 90-120, 30 bonus

4. 80-115, 50 bonus

5. 100-120, not sure on bonus

6. 120-130, bonus based on district performance.

Am I way off?

Sanofi to buy MannKind

Do you see the handwriting on the wall with SNY working hard to get the rollout started but at the same time buy or accumulating low cost shares of MannKind on the open market. Since the August 11th announcement there has been a steady daily accumulation of shares. This accumulation either by SNY or institutional buyers is evident of the belief that the product will be a successful addition to the Sanofi diabetes product offering. What time frame do you think a buyout from Sanofi will be announced?

Before product launch?

12 or more months after launch?

Sanofi accumulation would be a smart buy in move before having to disclose in future quarterly announcements. At some point they have to disclose their buying of shares it that is truly happening.

Where is the outrage ?

http://ift.tt/1t40dmb

Witty

Why is he still here? I understand the BOD is a bunch of English white guys that paid to have the title of Sir but you would think they at least had some intelligence. Excluding the US payoff that was put in motion prior to him becoming CEO, we have had China, Poland, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, etc. scandals. Where is the accountability? Funny how the shareholders don't correlate the US sales constriction with patient first. Now they are launching patient first globally. I have changed my percentage of GSK owned stock in my 401K. Patient first will kill this company. The industry raves how innovative it is, but don't comment on the fact sales have declined since it's inception. Witty loves DD because of it. They both need to be severed if this company is to prosper. Our best hope is to get bought by Pfizer (cheaper than Astra) and the CIA would be gone. Pfizer gets very favorable tax advantage.

Summit Team Not Treated Equally

I am a part of the Summit team and this is what I see. We are treated differently. We have gigantic territories and spend a huge amount of our time just driving. We get the same car allowance but are killing our vehicles faster. We are expected to put in the same amount of calls even though we may have to drive 2 hours to an account. Many of us (I am not saying everyone) work long hours to make this happen. The turn over rate with this company does not help morale. And the reason someone (DS1-DS4) might say they never see us is because that is the design AZ has set up. You notice, there is no "D" before our title. We are intended to be separate. They are not inviting us to the meetings. And we often overlap 3 territories! Typically larger territories would mean a specialty position, meaning more money. We are underpaid for what we do. The AZ reps are making $20,000 - $30,000 more in salary and we are working just as hard. The Summit team also has less security as they are being promised less time on board. Anyone who thinks they can make a career out of a contract job is blind. Who wants to be employed, unemployed, employed, unemployed etc? You get the picture. I am here like many others, for a paycheck until I can find a steady job.

Endo to sell off AMS

Endo International PLC has put its medical-device unit up for sale, according to people familiar with the matter, just three years after buying the business.

The Minnetonka, Minn.-based business, known as AMS, 0077.HK +0.93% supplies devices to treat pelvic disorders such as incontinence and recorded $250 million in revenues in the six months ended June 30. That was 19% of Endo's total revenue in the period.

AMS, which has attracted interest from private-equity firms and other health-care companies, could fetch about $2 billion in a sale, the people said.

That is less than the $2.9 billion Endo paid for the business in 2011. Endo in April agreed to pay roughly $830 million to settle claims that vaginal mesh inserts sold by AMS led to injuries. It is not clear why Endo is putting the business up for sale now.

Earlier this year, Endo, then based in Malvern, Pa., bought Canada's Paladin Labs Inc. The $1.6 billion deal allowed Endo, which is also a drug maker, to shift its domicile to Ireland, where corporate tax rates are lower. Such takeovers, known as inversions, have proliferated lately among health-care companies—and drawn criticism from politicians and others.

It is not clear whether any of the health-care companies pursuing AMS could use the deal to do an inversion of its own.

Earlier this month, Endo completed the acquisition of Dava Pharmaceuticals Inc., a generic pharmaceuticals specialist, for about $600 million.

MDT alliance with SNY does it involve MannKind

Now that Sanofi has partnered with MannKind for Afrezza does anybody see this tying into the Alliance with Medtronics? Somehow there seems to be a backroom deal where this is going to tie together the deal with MannKind? For a point of reference Alfred Mann of Mannkind had sold the Insulin Pump to Medtronics many years ago.

Rob Perez or Greg Stea: PLEASE address what's going on at Cubist!

We need true leadership NOW. The silence thus far from upper management is only exacerbating anger and mistrust in the field. This is not the right time to be letting this situation fester. Most CBMs are barely going through the motions at a time when we should be out there selling our hearts out. At this point, even our customers know something is very wrong at Cubist.

DONT YOU REALIZE HOW DETRIMENTAL THIS ATMOSPHERE IS TO THE BUSINESS?

It isn't blowing over. As a matter of fact the majority won't resign until after our 1st 1/2 year bonuses are paid out. If you hope to salvage this sales force and the launch of Sivextro, you have to take ownership of the situation and present a solution NOW. You've done it before, you can do it again. This needs to come from one of you, not TC, who has lost all credibility with the field.

We're depending on you guys to right the ship. Please don't let us down.

Has anyone ever filled out an application after reading theses threads and posts? My god, what kind of place is this.

Company knock out

Jerry Acuff

Seen ole Jerry in a Macdonalds in Phx this week, not happy with us. Kept complaining how we didn't invite him to do his annual customer based selling presentation. I kinda felt bad listening to him whine, as his ADHD son forced down a happy meal. Seems like he's hurting for money. He even took his kid off Vyvanse. I hope our new regime wises up and invites him and his boys back so we can hear more stories.

EBITA

Corporate strategy to hit EBITA & sale the company; Deny field sales force the $40 for home internet expense; Limit product samples; No meals; No overnight travel; Double & triple the size of CCC territories by whacking more reps; Leak bullshit stories about how hot we are and companies are clamoring to buy us for $10 BILLION, (Reuters), (global sales are $1.7B and Net Sales last 2 years are NEGATIVE $350M); Hire new reps but don't train them; Create spreadsheets & conduct multiple useless conference calls weekly that serve no benefit; Close ZERO new contracts of any national value (worthless pieces of shit called Corp Accts & Channel Management), ; Change Comp Plan mid-year to DE-motivate sales force, AND, make it so those who can't make more money sandbag remainder of year (Valentine is a complete moron); Have ZERO new product pipeline, (kiss my ass on Ag+, it will only replace millions in Ag sales you mental midgets); Solutions???!!! do I need to comment on an algorithm created in 1996 and asking customers to STANDARDIZE 100% is like asking Valentine to learn how to speak!!! I probably forgot a few points here but that is why I left the company. Total sad joke of an organization and some RSM's & other "management" types who tow the company line.....Go fuck yourselves nobody gives a shit.

Pfizer Rx program for retirees

I am retired and have been getting my Rxs at the local CVS pharmacy - a 90 day supply for a 60 day co-pay. Yesterday I received a 90 day supply of one of them without asking for it. I called the number on the bottle just now and they were speaking Spanish. Once I got him over to English he told me that ALL Rxs for Pfizer were now REQUIRED to be filled by mail.

What if you have an infection? Too bad, 7 to 10 days to get an antibiotic. What if the Rx is stolen? They will replace it once, after that you pay the full cost.

Thank you Pfizer - all the lies, all the time.

Safe...For Now

Congrats on making it past the August 20th cuts. News is coming down that the next round of cuts is already in motion and is likely to take place before the new year. Actavis will be looking to trim sales force significantly to make a potential sale more attractive to big name bidders. Projections are said to be in the 35-40% range.

Why improving processes is so difficult

!. Ownership of the current process: we waste time an energy because a Sr. Executive backs a project etc. No objective review. Example NCM (piloted to 18 months, implemented nationwide with major flaws, abandoned without a word or an effort to debrief and lean from mistakes

2. The Managers are implementers of HQ projects and monitors of reps. There is no real mechanism to critically review process changes, they are discouraged from providing any valuable feedback (because, nothing exists to provide the feedback-giving it to DCO is not productive, same is true at the rep level). The Veeva system is REDUCING productivity because the focus is monitoring activity, example monitoring the location for sample delivery does NOTHING to improve compliance. But if it could give a WARNING that the GPS location and the location selected in Veeva could or better yet, loading the correct address. Also if "compliance" is a priority, then why are there so many incorrect addressees in the database and why hasn't it been fixed?

3. Lack of accountability for anyone above the rep level in the organizational hierarchy. The Sr. Executive that pushes a project through, does not monitor it success except on the "scorecard". The scorecard does not measure productivity but skewed estimate of sales performance. There is no accountability because there is no way to validate the information presented. There is a religious tone to how the data are presented and people are rewarded for moving into a "high performing" territory and punished for being assigned a low performing territory. Others continuing in a territory can watch their performance plummet between December and January or dramatically improve. How is it possible to identify "best practices" in such a system?

Why improving processes is so difficult

What I will and will not miss

Won't miss:

MNK's timing. For example, having boxes of medsaway pouches because we got them after the pain management focus. I couldn't give them away to the surgeons.

Looking around at my colleague's faces as we are at a meeting being told that pain management physicians would be our XXR focus! And then seeing my new territory and seeing long time pain physicians GONE. Pain docs? They couldn't use it for breakthrough and wouldn't use it chronically. Your marketing research must have included some old, broken down pain docs that wanted a fast buck.

Management not listening to the field and have advisory councils that are shams. Everyone is so afraid of the new guard that no rep was comfortable telling the truth.

Launching a drug with the deck stacked against you.

Taking family time to do expense reports, DM busy work reports, AND looking up and correcting target lists! How many times can I tell you this doc has moved?

Being held to a performance standard when the way to measure the performance is WRONG and slow. And losing my job because of it.

Hearing "Mallinwhat? How do you spell that?"

"What a stupid name for a drug."

Hearing "The doctor doesn't see reps...and no, we don't do lunches"

Hearing "I try not to use anything with APAP in it anymore, what was your company thinking?"

Being yelled at because a doc had to change a script because of something totally out of my control.

AND THE BEST: Watching a company NOT giving struggling reps a very valuable asset that could give them some leverage with some doctors, but giving the asset to reps who don't need the help. Should have been a set amount to all. Dumbest maneuver that I have ever seen in my years in pharma, and when I started looking for a job.

Will miss:

A great group of wonderful, professional reps who I had a lot of fun with during my tenure with MNK. I hope that whatever the future brings to you all, that you are happy.

What I will and will not miss

Labcorp can't win

Are you ready for some football? Suck it Labcorp. You can't win.

"The Giants will collaborate and consult with Quest Diagnostics to develop new sports diagnostics services. The aim is to assist Quest in identifying and developing models and tests to help determine peak performance, provide meaningful training insights, develop analytics to maximize game day performance, reduce injuries and improve an individual's overall health. Quest will offer the services through its newly formed sports diagnostic business."

Massive Layoffs to come down soon.

Just got word that layoffs are going to occur soon. Good luck everyone.

I see all this yelling and complaining, but has ANYONE had the backbone to leave yet?

Sales Reps in the NBU

The micro managing has just begun, but the bigger issue is that all of the reports, tracking requests, spreadsheets that your manager is or will ask you to put together and the manner in which this leadership is asking for info (i.e. tracking sheets for driving managed care plans) will put you at risk under the CIA remember this.

The leadership will come and go, but your emails last forever, if you are asked to put something together like a tracking sheet, business plan, itinerary, etc and you do not feel comfortable then contact compliance ASAP they will protect you

We are going down a path of micromanaging hell all designed to "catch people" and document reasons to get rid of them and bring in their cronies.......this has already happened and it will start getting worse.

Protect yourself and don't put your job in jeopardy because we have leadership with zero strategic skills vs. outstanding excel skills

Breaking In

So, what advice would you give someone wanting to break into clinical research coming from pharma sales management? Anything specific that would help to show the competency skills are there just need to learn to apply the new skill set of monitoring and all ich guidelines, etc for accurate f/u.

Any info you can share would be appreciated and helpful. I'm sure this has happened before...somewhere, right?

Vegas meeting....waste of money!!!

Wow what a joke. So much wasted money. Can't believe they took us to a night club at the MGM and had an awful buffet, blasting music and chaos trying to get 3000 people in one club. Beer wine and soda. Who's retarded idea was this? Why not give everyone a budget and let us go out for dinner with our teams. Most of the reps are not youngsters and this idea was not a good one. Gosh, I hope the Germans are reading this thread. I'm not an ungrateful person. I just think that if this company is trying to save money, don't waste money on things reps will not enjoy. Why not give us a few choices and go with the majority? Either way this was such a waste of money. When layoffs happen (probably inhouse) someone will loose their job when their job could have been saved if the company made a few cost efficient ideas.

Class Action Lawsuit Time

The release of the severance information today and the elimination of the Change of Control payouts seems ripe for a Class Action Suit by employees. If you were hired since last September when that policy was revised and published, or changed roles as a result of One Shire since that policy went into effect and signed a new offer letter or job description, a claim can be made that you accepted employment based on the existing, documented Shire severance and Change of Control policies. Speak to a lawyer. While specifications can vary by state, Shire's publication of this policy is an "implied contract" with employees that can be enforced in the courts.

A story about a boy named Amgen

Amgen was a very promising child. From the very beginning those around him felt that he was destined to do great things and really change the world. He was an altruistic, motivated, and innovative lad who was enthusiastic to make his mark. Indeed he started off doing great things and it seemed his future success would be without bounds. In his adolescence, Amgen's success started to go to his head. He started lavishly spending the fortune that he had amassed at wild parties and building temples that showed his greatness. From the beginning, Amgen had a complex about his older brother who lived in northern California. Amgen was incapable of beginning a conversation without first saying that he was larger than his big brother which, at first, was cute to his family and friends but became totally annoying as time went passed. In his mid twenties, Amgen dated several girls but none of them ever turned out to be "the one". By this time, Amgen had gained a considerable amount of weight. He was not the lean athlete he once was but his enthusiasm for cycling was still very evident. He knew it was a time for a life correction. He aggressively shed 14% of his body mass which had the bonus of saving about $1B on his yearly expenses. He touted to all that he was once again down to his lean, nimble fighting weight and he would survive, prosper, and ultimately win the rivalry with his sibling. But alas, not soon after, Amgen found that he had gained all his weight back since he had continued to drink and party heavily. Moreover, Amgen had paid dearly in his love life spending vast amounts of his fortune trying find the under appreciated girl who would ultimately end up having deep pockets. In fact, you could say that Amgen's love life was a total failure. Meanwhile, his big brother married a girl from Switzerland and they lived a happy, prosperous life with a big happy family. Once again, Amgen felt he was in the shadow of his big brother. Amgen again decided it was time for a change and hired a new investment banker to watch over his finances and business dealings. His financial adviser agreed that all was not well in the Amgen house and that significant changes had to be made. Amgen knew that he had to reach his full potential and decided to take his Ferrari out for a spin to clear his head. Rocketing down the northbound 101, Amgen felt optimistic about the future and his new financial mentor. Sure, his big brother seemed to have it all but Amgen thought the world would soon know better once they saw all the great things in his shop. Amgen drove all the way to San Francisco where he met a girl named Onyx. He was head over heals with this girl. He lavished her with money and praise of her overwhelming beauty. Although many of Onyx's friends and family could not stand the new boy in her life, Onyx's father endorsed the marriage knowing he would get a sizable

dowry. In order to pay for the marriage and reach his full life potential, Amgen would once again need shed weight. His adviser urged Amgen to take 12-15% off of his waistband knowing that his financial situation was untenable. Some 25% of the vacation homes and temples would have to be sold but Amgen was relieved when he learned he could keep the fleet of Gulfstream jets. Onyx on the other hand was fatally injured as a result of the new wedding vows. While her family prospered financially, she lost everything. She no longer could think for herself, she lost the ability to be nimble and get things done. She become overly risk adverse and bogged down in non-value added busy work. As she lay bleeding on the operating table, losing all that she once was her uncle Pablo stood by and watched. Pablo was, of course, a medical doctor but he lacked any experience with ER medicine. Rather than doing anything about the situation, Pablo could only stand around and watch as Amgen made all of the funeral arrangements. Now in his early thirties, Amgen once again found himself falling flat by the measure of his big brother's life. Amgen would spend the next decade trying to find others to date but the word on the street was already established. Even though he was so successful as a child, Amgen lacked any credibility in his adult life. Nobody wanted to be a part of his family and he could only get busy with the ladies by paying them handsomely. Amgen eventually died and there was really nobody at his funeral except those he had previously paid to attend. In his legacy, Amgen left behind many foster children who went off and prospered in other families having learned great life lessons about the dangers of arrogance, greed, and envy.

-The End

Today’s unusual options trading activity takes us into a deal falling apart in AGN

Shares of Allergan, Inc. (AGN) are down .25 to 162.87 today. AGN is near the top of the 52 week range.

Today paper traded 4500/2000 AGN Sep 140/Oct 145 put spreads for .55 credit.

Volume went up in two blocks. This put spread traded is most likely a close. If not, a customer is looking for a breakup of the deal and a way to cash in on a short term drop into the 130 range. If closing, they probably put it on for a credit and are taking the slow pullback from highs to exit.

DM Input

How much input did the DM's have in who stayed or went? I think my girlfriend's manager screwed her over. She was the only one growing in her district, but her manager is a jerk. Could he have recommended her release? We've never been through layoffs before, so we're not sure how it works.

Thanks,
