Description The Diagnostic Sales Specialist(DSS) is responsible for effectively communicating and selling the benefits of the APTIMA product line, the Thin Prep Pap Test and adjunctive testing, and the Thin Prep Imaging System, to clinicians in an assigned geographic territory. Additionally, the DSS provides educational support to OB/GYNs and other clinical professionals in the office and hospital setting as well as strategic business planning and development for primary and secondary product lines. This position requires regular travel within assigned territory and some potential overnight travel. • Meet and exceed sales goals and achieve maximum sales in assigned territory • Support territory sales goals by maintaining core business, increasing usage, and prospecting new customers • Effectively sell the sales message to all customers in the targeted territory • Achieve quarterly and annual sales goals for assigned and acquired products as required • Effectively insulates accounts against competition and regaining lost customer accounts• Develop and execute business plans for targeted accounts• Integrate successfully into team selling environment by partnering sales efforts with Territory Manager and Account Executive, Cytology Application specialists, Strategic Accounts Manager, and other colleagues• Assist in generating leads for other products• Manage time effectively; prioritize and make good business judgments and decisions in relationship to efficiency, effectiveness while meeting daily call expectations• Partner with marketing department to support the development and execution of marketing programs and sales materials• Attend local and national professional trade shows and events and promote products to all customers• Update and synch all relevant customer account information daily.• Perform other duties as requiredQualifications Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required: • Demonstrated track record of success and sales accomplishments• Ability to sell in a consultative manner such that the customer need is discovered and addressed in an individualized clinical and data-driven manner• Strong persuasiveness and influence skills required• Ability to understand and articulate complex scientific literature and use extensive and complex clinical data as a key factor in the sales process• Familiarity with clinical and economic outcome data, reimbursement, and managed care policies and procedures Education: • Bachelor of Arts/Science from an accredited college or university required or equivalent work experience Experience: • Candidate must have a minimum of two years sales experience• Medical background/sales experience, laboratory experience, and/or managed care knowledge desirable• Business-to-business experience highly desired Additional Details: • Since this position requires extensive driving during the workday, a valid driving license and satisfactory driving record, as well as a serviceable vehicle available for work use is mandatory
