The indictment of these physicians does mention ordering unnecessary tests and making a profit on them as part of the article. They describe direct billing in the article. There is not a lab mentioned but I do know that direct bill was approximately 95% of Castle customers when I was with them so this will definitely have an impact. In some States it is illegal like Washington State. Some of the other labs do direct billing as well. Castle is not the only one. Physicians will definitely want to steer away from it going forward. This was definitely the way that Castle obtained business and it is legal. Looks like these docs were over prescribing and ordering unnecessary tests in order to increase profits.
