dermatopathologist looking for advice

I am a dermatopathologist and I am contemplating opening my own dermpath lab. I can't afford to hire a sales rep, so I would have to market myself. I have no sales experience to speak of. I am interested in learning how the dermpath sales reps approach new potential clients. How do you get your foot in the dermatologist' office ? Do you simply cold call a derm office, ask for the office manager, and arrange a lunch or presentation? Thank you.
