I'm Out

Background:

I'm out of the Industry (15+ yrs exp). and working in clinical management now in a healthcare setting.

Recently, I was asked would I ever return to Pharma?

I said (me) no, but for (you) it may be worth it.

Why?

Well, I know too much and can detail around an objection with fluidity-but that's noncompliant now. And, I was trained to handle objections, limited option close and challenge for the business. Now, the script does not allow that type of interaction. #icant

but

You can, bc you don't know any differently. You are 27/28 and can get in with a plan, pay of debt but don't stay over 5 years and you're good. ( I could tell that's why they were asking)

...yet I wondered if I would after 5-7 yrs out...

The next day I was called by a former coworker looking to expand the team, I was pursued to apply and told I had the job if I want it bc the person remembered my ability to sell, niche, grow etc...I was honored. I was lured with the car, the expense account the 'salary' and bonus enticement again and I said no. By eve I rejected and I can tell they were pissed at me.

My rational-I will NEVER forget that pharma can not handle my skills, does not want me to bring my intelligence to the sales call and furthermore the barrage of negativity from management and customers on a daily basis is not attractive. No thank you. Pass. If I came back to pharma, it would have to be at a higher leve where I can effect change and impact the quality of the rep and bring integrity back to the sales call. I can't be a part of what's going on now with scripted messaging and letters to HO to answer simple objections/questions.

I felt so wonderful and free. I heard the final chain of the golden handcuffs drop to the ground. You don't have me anymore pharma industry. I will stay where I'm expected to bring my intelligence to work everyday, expand and grow. I will continue to challenge myself and grow. I will continue to educate myself and grow. I will continue to look back at that arrogant industry and wish it well. The key word is grow bc life is a journey. There is no growth in pharma, for me at least.

I needed to vent. To management that still tries to belittle the reps left behind, reminding them that everyone in the world wants 'your' job,NO WE DON'T! You have now gone to the far end of the spectrum, quality people are not beating down the doors to get in. Those that get in usually just need a dag gone job. And, you need to think about that. And please don't drop that line when you are giving your pep rally speech about why you are the bomb diggity in the pharma world and all others are losers. That is 20 years played out.

I heard a door shut, a key turn and I truly know I'm on a path moving forward and onward; and, it feels good to know I'm free from the mental drudgery of the pharma game.

The best to ya,

I'm out
