I thought I'd write something positive on this site. It'll probably be akin to pissing in the wind, but I'm tired of seeing nothing but negative crap on this board.
First, I work in the corporate headquarters and while I'm not an old timer I've been here for a while. I'm not a high level manager or anyone important, just a worker bee. I've watched the company go from a small pharma company with a few hundred people to where we are today, selling for over $10 billion. That has taken an enormous amount of work and a good bit of personal sacrifice on a lot of employees to make that happen.
There are a ton of great people at Salix and I hate for others to read this board and think that Salix is a shit hole. It's not, the bitching on this board does not reflect most opinions in the office. It can be difficult at times but it has been extremely rewarding, not just monetarily but in seeing what has been built. The company has grown at a rapid pace, especially over the last few years, and it is all due to the great people here. While mistakes have been made I feel like senior management and the board have done an excellent job growing the company and building a strong work environment. I know a lot of people in the company read this site and I don't want the mindless bitching and drivel on here to be the overwhelming theme of our company.
At this point, no matter if Valeant keeps us or we get severance and move on, I'm proud of my work here and the people I've worked with. I am also very appreciative that our senior management has taken steps to make sure that we don't get screwed out of severance or any other benefits during this acquisition. I'm sure they put a lot of work into this deal to try to make everyone happy in the end. The fact that we even have the potential for this severance (in addition to all the other payouts we'll be getting) is proof that this company was built around it's employees. You sure as hell won't get that from most companies, you'd be lucky to get more than a couple weeks if you get severance at all.
That's all I wanted to say, you all can go back to your drunken posting and bitching about random stupid things now.
