Lab Industry is Dying

A word to the wise for the lab industry. The party is over! All Pain Labs will be put out of business by CMS by the end of 2016. Payment structures are changing. All Behavioral Health, Drug Free Clinic and Methadone/Suboxone testing will be capped at no more than $100 for Medicare and will be bundled for Medicaid/Private Payers. All Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans are paying the patients for out of network services and the labs will have to chase their money down! Labcorp is underpricing all labs on Private Payer contracts while Quest is buying up Hospital Labs. ACO's and Hospitals will control about 75% of the lab market by the end of 2015. The Primary Care Doctor will control all referrals to Specialist by the end of 2016 no matter the type of health plan- PPO, HMO, PPS, it won't matter. By the end of 2017 the lab market will look like this- LabCorp, Quest and Hospital labs. All other labs will not exist. If the small labs don't unite to fight this we will all be dead. Everyone needs to join NILA to combat this issue. Mass consolidation of the NILA labs is the only course of action to fight our extinction! We will look like Canada by the end of 2017 with Single Payer by 2020. By 2020 there will be the hospital labs and only one of Quest and LabCorp will exist.
