BS in HR at Amgen

BS is Vice President, HR for Amgen’s global R&D organization, with responsibility for 6,000+ staff in North America, Europe, and Asia. In this role, his responsibilities include: organization planning, executive coaching, staffing, management training, compensation, employee relations, and internal communications. He is also responsible for supporting cross-functional Commercialization teams at Amgen (150+ staff), encompassing Amgen’s Therapeutic Area Steering Committees and Product Strategy Teams. Previously at Amgen, he was based in Switzerland as Vice President, HR for Amgen International, which covered staff in 25+ countries in Europe. BS played a key senior advisor role to the International leadership team and developed of a number of HR programs for Amgen Europe, including: management curriculum, compensation and incentive programs, succession planning, talent management program and HR metrics. During the four year period from 2003-07, Amgen International grew from $800 million to $2.5 billion in sales, expanding from 15 to 25+ countries. Prior to joining Amgen, BS spent eight years at Dell Computer Corporation, where he held roles as director of Human Resources and head of Worldwide Compensation and Benefits, where he also managed the board relationship on executive compensation. Previously, he worked for human resources consultants Hewitt Associates in the practice areas of executive compensation and flexible benefits. Prior to consulting, he worked in corporate sales for a Midwestern-based manufacturing company. BS has a B.S. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Human Resource Management from The University of Michigan
